“An Evening of 2 Halves” launches in Newry

An innovative new sports panel event which brings together  Former International Rugby and GAA stars, and aptly entitled “An Evening of 2 Halves”, will be coming to the Canal Court Hotel, Newry on Thursday 16th and Friday 17th January 2020.

The upcoming Six Nations Tournament and National Football League season will be the main theme of the discussion but the panellists will also look back on their own iconic careers and tell the inside story of what goes on behind the dressing room door!

The first half sees Ireland’s World Cup Captain Rory Best along with Stephen Ferris, Chris Henry and David Wallace to make up a well informed and lively pack. With Darren Cave acting as referee and master of ceremonies, it is a fantastic opportunity to really get into the detail of the upcoming championship.

After the half time break for refreshments, the stellar line up of GAA stars includes; Mayo’s Andy Moran, Kerry’s Marc O’Se, Armagh’s Aaron Kernan and Down’s Marty Clarke.  With local Burren man and TV and Radio personality Frank Mitchell taking over the MC role. The outlook is likely to be stormy with a lot of heat!

Tony McKeown, Director of Granite Marketing, who has devised the event commented “Panel events with sports stars are always popular, however, we wanted to go the extra mile and create something that little bit different.  Bringing world-class athletes together to reflect on their careers and give an invaluable insight into team sports in the modern era whilst maintaining a relaxed, fun and engaging environment was top of our priority list.

We have some of the World’s top-level sports stars living in the greater Newry area who regularly perform at the highest level.  We were delighted when they agreed to take part and form a very impressive line-up.

When you look around Newry today, there are many businesses that are performing and succeeding on a global stage.  There are lessons from being successful in the sporting field that can be applied to business and vice versa.

The evening is being supported by a number of organisations including the Newry BID who are keen to bring new events like this to the area.  Accident Management Specialists, CRASH Services, are the overall sponsor.

The event ‘kicks off’ at 7pm with a drinks reception, where patrons can meet and greet the panellists. This is followed by a meal before the show starts. When the ‘game’ is over, a charity raffle and silent auction will take place in aid of The Southern Area Hospice and Air Ambulance NI.  There will also be music and entertainment to make the night even more memorable.

If you have a passion for Rugby or GAA then don’t delay, the event has limited seating and this event is sure to sell out quickly.
