“A car pulled across me from a side road causing a car accident”
“I was driving from Donaghdee towards Newtownards, it was a 60-mile-an-hour limit, and I was doing 50 miles-an-hour, then all of a sudden, I saw a car pull out from the right-hand side. I crashed into their passenger side door as I had nowhere else to go, and then my car got thrown back because of the force of the accident.
An elderly lady was driving. The police said that the lady was at fault. He took statements from everyone at the scene and then I phoned my insurance company, they said they would try and get somebody out to me but, nobody came.
I thought my car was drivable, but it was quite damaged, nonetheless, I managed to get it home and the insurance company said they would send out a replacement car. They sent this big, bus-like car but I told them it was no good as I was used to driving a smaller vehicle and was upset about this as I wasn’t confident driving it.
I didn’t know what to do and then a friend came round and said look phone CRASH Services. I phoned CRASH and they were very nice, they spoke to me on the phone, asked me for details and then later that day, they delivered me a small white car like my own. I was so impressed.
I phoned my insurance company and told them to take the hire car away they had given me and that I was dealing with CRASH Services now.
When you’re frightened, you’re worried, you’re scared and you’re not sure what’s going to happen, the nice thing about CRASH was, every couple of days somebody would phone you up and ask you if you were okay.
After the car accident, I was hurt and had trouble breathing, I went to the doctors, who sent me to the hospital to find that I’d got a clot in my lung because of the car accident, and this meant that I couldn’t work for a while.
A lady from CRASH phoned me up and asked me how I got on in the hospital, how I was feeling, was there anything they could do to help me. So, I felt not so scared about the car accident and was reassured that someone was concerned about my health. It was the first car accident I’ve ever had, and it is a very traumatic experience.
The fact that CRASH Services saw you all the way through this traumatic experience was fantastic, and if they hadn’t I wouldn’t have had any idea what to do or how to do it.
Now I’ve got my car back, and I’m feeling better, I would not to hesitate to get in touch with them again.
I mean, what sort of service is that? It’s amazing. Because you’re not just a client, they make you feel like you’re a person and they really care, and I think that’s the most important thing that got me through it.”
